Her family doesn't give her due respect yet she puts in more work around the house than they do. The protagonist, Nezzy, is a woman on the reservation. The prominent conflict in “The Fun House” was human versus society. The desert seems to be empty and lonely to them and they definitely aren't enjoying their time during their desert escapades. Victor and Thomas drive through the desert on the way back to the reservation from Phoenix, during the drive the desert takes a toll on our characters. During the story Victor recalls a memory of when Victor was drunk and attacked Thomas. The prominent conflicts in “This is what it means to say Phoenix, Arizona” is human versus human and human Versus Nature. These people happen to pass by and as they do they insult and laugh at the three Indians who seem have become their own show for the crowd. Victor, Sadie, and Dirty Joe are placed within a carnival surrounded by white carnival-goers. The conflict within this story is that of Man vs Society. The man vs himself conflict comes when the Indians who have the opportunity to or the highest chance to leave the reservation fight within themselves to give up and become trapped on the reservation or to keep pushing on in order to leave it. They fight the alcoholism and many other problems that reside within the reservation to hopefully find a better life off of the reservation elsewhere but like with many in the community, they give in and become trapped just like everyone else. This is due to the way in which life on the reservation has set up its youth. The conflict in this story is man vs society but also man vs himself.

The Only Traffic Signal on the Reservation Doesn’t Flash Red Anymore: Angered by her desire for something that he is not, Victor realizes she is no different than anyone else herself walks out. This is unlike Victor and foretells of something that One Braid wishes to have. This disturbs Victor greatly as the name in Native American culture refers to one being masculine. This is due to the the struggle that Victor has with his own identity as One Braid continues to call him Crazy Horse.

In Crazy Horse Dreams, the conflict is Man vs Himself. With the absence of his father, Victor is left at odds both hoping for his father’s return and resenting him at the same time. But soon their love for each other would drive them apart. Victor explains how as his parents grew more hostile towards each other, they each became more and more beautiful. The conflict in this story lies within Victor’s parent’s past which is Human vs Human. Victor sees his past and realize the culture that is apart of his identity that has been stripped from him and when given the drum he notes that “this could fill his world”.īecause My Father Always Said He Was the Only Indian Who Saw Jimi Hendrix Play “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Woodstock: One of the conflicts being Human vs Society in which the hallucinations take the young men on a trip through their history and culture as it should be, but in reality is not allowed because of the counterculture that the U.S has forced upon the tribe. In this story it could be determined to hold two different conflicts. This conflict has a sort of ripple effect on the rest of the party as others pick up a little bit of the anger and hatred within each other which causes a big commotion that drives Victor into the room with both of his drunk sleeping parents. The conflict in this story is Human vs Human as it portrays two Indians, Adrian and Adolf fighting with each other whilst under the influence.
